Happy 4th of July
Wednesday, July 4, 2007
I'm back on line in the Solomons after my trip to the USA. Sorry I have been neglectful of the blog. Life has been crazy to say the least.
It's the night of July 4th here and our mission group just celebrated Independence Day. We were a mixed group of Americans and our Australian and national colleagues.
Our director, James, was in charge of entertainment for our gathering. The kids LOVE Uncle James who has a never ending supply of fun things to do.
We started out playing water balloon volleyball. Each team had a piece of fabric held between members that was used to launch and catch the water balloon volleyballs over the net. Of course some broke leaving players a bit damp.
And, not to be without fireworks on the fourth, we had a light show. James made a small basket out of chicken wire with a string attached to it. He filled the basket with steel wool, doused it with kerosene and lit it. He swung the basket around and around and produced some pretty impressive fireworks!
We hope you enjoy the 4th of July wherever you are.
